Gas Outage Update

This is a notification from PitkinAlert:

Black Hills Energy crews are beginning to purge the impacted area of the Aspen natural gas system. Customers may smell a faint natural gas due to the controlled release – this is normal and expected and is step one in the multistep process. Beginning this evening until 11 pm, some customers will see BHE employees at their door to ensure safe delivery of natural gas and to relight appliances. The relight process will then continue tomorrow beginning at 5am. Do not attempt to relight appliances on your own. Please ensure someone over 18 years of age is present and all animals are secure. Pitkin County and the City of Aspen will hold a Community Meeting at 6 p.m. tonight, 12/28/20. Details can be found on the pitkincounty.com later this afternoon. Gas Outage in Aspen

This is a notification from PitkinAlert:

Black Hills Energy crews are repairing the impacted area of the Aspen natural gas system. To safely facilitate repairs, beginning at 10 p.m. this evening, techs will go door to door and turn off about 3,500 gas meters to ensure the safety of the community. This is step one in the multistep process. After making repairs and re-pressurizing the system, service will be restored to impacted residents and BHE techs will relight customers. Do not attempt to relight appliances on your own. BHE will send another notice prior to beginning the relight process. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
