Highway 82 at Basalt Ave will be temporarily closed to East Bound traffic until further notice. Traffic will be diverted onto Basalt Ave and through Basalt. We will notify as soon as the highway is open and as always we appreciate your patience and drive safely .

The National Weather Service will allow the Flash Flood Warning for Southwestern Eagle County - including the Lake Christine Fire burn scar and surrounding areas - to expire at 7:45pm MDT.
Flood waters have receded. Flooding is no longer expected to pose a threat. Please continue to heed any remaining road closures.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for the Basalt Mountain area. Please take necessary precautions. At 447 PM MDT, Until 745 PM MDT Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain over the Lake Christine Fire. Storms west moving east southwest at 20 mph. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly. Some locations that will experience flooding include... Basalt, Emma and El Jebel and the Lake Christine Burn Scar. Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will result in debris flow moving through the Roaring Fork Drainage. The debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials. This includes Colorado 82 between mile markers 19 and 21. Move away from recently burned areas. Life-threatening flooding of creeks, roads and normally dry areas is likely. The heavy rains will likely trigger rockslides, mudslides and debris flows in steep

Please remember that air quality can change quickly depending on your location, winds, and fire activity. In addition, some people may be more sensitive to smoke in the air, even if the monitor indicates the air quality is good or moderate. Though the risk of power loss is diminishing, fire behavior is unpredictable and we are preparing for all possibilities. If power is lost, cell phone towers will go down as well.
